SSAB, a leading global steel company, has used Squeeze Solution for more than 20 years to support reliable grease handling at its steel mill in Raahe, Finland. As one of the largest steel mills in the Nordics, reliable lubrication is essential to keep production running around the clock.

Their needs
Traditional drums required frequent changeovers and considerable handling, while earlier trials with steel totes left significant amounts of residual grease. SSAB Raahe needed a solution that could protect the grease throughout the process while reducing changeovers, product waste, and empty packaging.

Filled by the grease supplier in a closed process, the Fluid-Bags remain sealed throughout handling and discharge. At SSAB Raahe, four Discharge Rollers supply grease directly into centralized lubrication systems supporting critical applications such as the casting machinery. Slow, controlled discharge, combined with stretching and squeezing techniques, allows each 1,000-liter Fluid-Bag to supply grease for approximately two weeks.
Protected grease quality
In the demanding steel mill environment, Fluid-Bags keep grease sealed from filling to discharge, protecting it from air exposure, dust and other contaminants. This helps maintain grease quality, minimize unplanned downtime, and support reliable lubrication.
Fewer container changes
With a single Fluid-Bag replacing five grease drums, SSAB Raahe can reduce container changes and maintenance effort, saving valuable time for personnel. Once emptied, the flexible Fluid-Bag leaves no empty containers taking up space after use.
Less waste
The combination of flexible Fluid-Bags and efficient discharge equipment reduces residual grease to a minimum, helping SSAB Raahe recover more usable product and minimize waste.
